Wow, that's quite a journey.

When my wife and I got married, we went to a court and that was it. We had a wedding reception just because some relatives insisted on having one.

This "every little girl's dream is to have a huge, perfect wedding" is actually sick, it primes our daughters' mind to see themselves only as a delicate doll that needs to be cherished, and ignore their other more important qualities like intelligence. Just my 2 cents.
